The 120-metre high Mehrangarh Fort, which towers above the city on an imposing rocky outcrop, is one of the grandest forts of Rajasthan. It houses the best collection of royal art, weaponry, and painting collections in all of Rajasthan. Views from the ramparts of the fort of the blue city below and the Thar Desert in the distance are absolutely stunning.
Umaid Bhawan Palace, which combines both palace and heritage hotel, is one of the last built palaces in India. Its Art Deco architecture is simply breathtaking. Jaswant Thada, which was built as a white marble cenotaph in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, makes for another picturesque sight. However, it usually goes unnoticed by the throng of people rushing to get a sight of the fort.
The ideal time to visit Jodhpur is between October and March. Jodhpur is truly the most memorable city in all of Rajasthan.
